Flea Products
There are a variety of products out
there to help you control fleas.  Most
of them are insecticide-based and
are applied on the dog's skin.  
Because our world is already full of
toxins and immune system
challenges for our pets, Cattledog
Dreams does not recommend
insecticidal based treatments.
Instead, we recommend the
following flea control protocol:

High Quality Dog Food
Supplemented with Garlic
This will ensure the dog has the
best immune defences possible.

Program (Lufenuron) Tablets
to control flea populations.  These
tablets are given to dogs with their
normal dinner once a month, and
act as a birth control pill for fleas.  
They have no effect on adult
fleas, but cause the eggs they
produce to be infertile.   

Monthly Baths
during flea season.  It is not
necessary to use any special flea
soaps as any soap will kill fleas.  
We recommend using a shampoo
that has citrus oils in it as this can
act as a natural flea repellent in
between baths.

Diatomaceous Earth
is available under many product
names.  Cattledog Dreams uses
Natural Animal Diatom Dust
(available at health food stores or at
www.naturalanimal.com).  
Diatomaceous Earth is made up of
the fossilized remains of
microscopic one-celled plants that
live in the ocean and fresh water.  
These remains are so small they
look like dust, but the are so
abrasive that they remove the waxy
coating on the exoskeleton of
insects, which causes the insect to
dehydrate and die. Sprinkle this
product lightly on your pet's bedding
and under couch cushions (if your
dog is allowed on the couch).  Do
not use this product directly on your
pet, because, although it is
non-toxic, it is best they not eat it or
breath the dust.

This product works great on organic stains
(like urine and feces) and is essential for
cleaning up after house training accidents. It
is available in most pet stores.

Another excellent product that can keep your
grass from burning is
G-Whiz by Earth's Balance
This is a yucca extract that you add to your
dog's food or water.
