A Word On Food

Fresh is Best!  Click here for recipes
and ideas on how to feed a
home-made and/or raw diet.  It is
easier and more cost effective than
you might think!

If you can't always do fresh,
choose a high quality dog food!

a quality food, and some foods that
Cattledog Dreams thinks are worth
considering.
Toys and Treats

Toys are essential for these intelligent
dogs.  Many ACD owners keep a basket
of toys in the house at all times and allow
their "kids" to pull them out and play with
them at will.

the toys favored by ACD's, and some you
may find less successful.

Though Cattle Dogs will work for praise,
there is no substitute for the full attention
a treat can provide in distracting
circumstances.

recommendations and sources.
Training Equipment

Cattle Dogs are more sensitive than many
people realize and, once they recognize you
as their buddy, they aim to please.  There is
no need to use harsh treatment or shock
collars on these dogs, and the use of these
methods can be detrimental to their desire
to learn and actually damage your relation-
ship with this loyal canine.

For this reason, Cattledog Dreams
recommends all training for Cattle Dogs be
based on positive reinforcement methods.
We provide all adopters with a positive
reinforcement training book and include a
free private training session to introduce
adopters to these techniques.

Need more help in using positive
reinforcement methods?  No problem!
