Re-Homing Help Available
Cattledog Dreams
Dedicated to the Care, Training and Placement of Australian Cattle Dogs
Program Options and Fees
Cattledog Dreams has three programs for helping
Australian Cattle Dog owners re-home their dogs.

Program #1 - Courtesy Listing

Cost to Owner: $50/dog (refunded if Adopter's check is
made out to Cattledog Dreams)

Requirements: To qualify for this program, all dogs must
be healthy, people friendly, and spayed or neutered.

(Cattledog Dreams has access to low cost medical care that we
would  be happy to make available to you to help you meet
these conditions. The fees for these services are listed in the
left column of this page.)

Details:  Cattledog Dreams will upload a Courtesy
Listing to Petfinder, Adopt-a-Pet, and a variety of other
websites and refer potential adopters to the Owner, if the
Owner agrees to:

(1)  Charge an adoption fee of at least $75 (however,
$150 is strongly recommended - see below for more
information), and

(2)  Conduct a check of the Adopter's home before
allowing them to take possession of the dog.

Potential adopters will contact the Owner directly, so the
Owner can select the right home for their dog.  Though
the Owner is welcome to call Cattledog Dreams for
coaching during the re-homing process, and Cattledog
Dreams may refer potential adopters to the Owner on
occasion, Cattledog Dreams is only responsible for
posting the listing.  The Owner must conduct all
interviews, collect the fee and conduct the home check.

Getting Started:  To participate in this program, Owners
need to:

(1) Send a short bio about the dog and several
photographs showing the dog looking happy and playful
to
jennifer@cattledogdreams.com.   The email should
also include:

(a)  Proof that the dog is spayed or neutered,

(b)  What adoption fee you would like us to include
in the ad, and

(c)  Whether or not the adoption fee will be donated to
Cattledog Dreams (so we can include this information in
the ad as well).
Note:  Most people are happy to pay the
$150 adoption fee we recommend if they know it will go
to a non-profit rescue like Cattledog Dreams.

(2) Submit the $50/dog registration fee to Cattledog
Dreams via Pay Pal (use the Pay Pal Donation button
below).
This fee is refunded if Cattledog Dreams
receives the Adopter's check, and that check is made out
to Cattledog Dreams for a minimum of $75 per dog (as
required above).

Why the Adoption Fee?  We recommend Owners
charge a $150 adoption fee (the minimum most rescues
charge), but
require they charge no less than $75, to
help ensure the dog is adopted by a family who can
afford to have a pet.  Most dogs end up in shelters
because their owners can not afford to care for them.
Also, many people, called "Hoarders", actually collect
"free" or inexpensive pets, and they end up with far more
animals than they can afford to care for.  Some Hoarders
have over 80 starving dogs and cats on their property!
Free and inexpensive pets also end up as test dogs for
laboratory experiments and as bait dogs in dog fighting.
Don't let this happen to your pet!  Charge a significant
adoption fee and do a home check!

Feel strange collecting money for your pet?
Don't!  You need to have the Adopter prove they can afford
a dog.  If they can't afford to pay at least $75 for a dog,
how will they afford the $120 annual vet check-up, or the
$80/month it will cost to keep the dog in quality food, toys
and treats?  (Let alone emergency care.)

Also, if you have the Adopter make the check out to
Cattledog Dreams, their adoption will help other dogs get
out of the shelter and into good homes.  Not to mention,
you will get your registration fee back!

Program #2 - Foster At Home

Cost to Owner: $75/dog

Requirements:
:  Same as Program #1, PLUS dogs
must be dog friendly, current on shots, micro chipped,
and
(if they are over 6 months old) have either been on
heart worm medication or have recently passed a heart
worm test.

(Cattledog Dreams has access to low cost medical care that we
would  be happy to make available to you to help you meet
these conditions. The fees for these services are listed
in the
column to the left
.)

Details:  Owners that live within 30 miles of San Leandro
AND can keep their dog until a new home is found can
participate in our Foster At Home Program.  A $75
Evaluation Fee is charged for this program, which is not
refundable.

If the dog passes our evaluation, the dog is placed on the
Cattledog Dreams website (which is linked to Pet Finder,
Adopt-a-Pet and several other national  web-sites).

The difference between this program and the Courtesy
Listing is that Cattledog Dreams handles the entire
adoption process.  All the owner needs to do is continue
to care for their dog until it is adopted, and transport the
dog to San Leandro for interviews as needed (no more
than once per week).   Owners remain responsible for all
expenses relating to their dog's care until the dog is
placed, but Cattledog Dreams does all the interviews,
shows the dog and conducts the home check.  We also
will accept the dog back into our program if the dog is
returned by the adopter, so you do not need to worry
about its care once it is adopted.  In exchange for all this,
we also keep the adoption fee.

Getting Started:  To participate in this program, Owners
need to:

(1) Send a short bio about the dog and several
photographs showing the dog looking happy and playful
to
jennifer@cattledogdreams.com.   In your email, let us
know whether or not the dog is spayed/neutered,
up-to-date on shots, micro chipped and heart worm
tested (or on heart worm medication).
Remember, before we can show your dog to potential
adopters, these procedures will need to be done, but
they do not need to be done before our evaluation date.
You should also let us know what days you are available
to bring your dog to us for its evaluation.

(2) Once we have confirmed an evaluation date for your
dog, submit the $75/dog evaluation fee to Cattledog
Dreams via Pay Pal (use the Pay Pal Donation button
above).  This fee is not refundable.

(3)  When you attend the evaluation, bring proof of
spay/neuter, shots, micro chipping and heart worm
status.
